Some users might think of their scooter's washers as the least essential of all the component bits that go into their machine; however without them, your typical scooter or power chair would soon fall apart from vibration loosening the fastening bolts.

The scooter washer does several jobs; it spreads the bolt and nut's load over a broader area, it may be used to help prevent galvanic corrosion (especially with electronic parts), it may be providing the additional "grip" that maintains the bolt's tightness, or it may be performing all of these functions at once. With a résumé like that, it's no wonder than your average scooter or power chair may use dozens and dozens of washers in a wide range of types and sizes.
