This is the large machined alloy ring with a beveled inside diameter that fits into the rubber base of the filter. When mounting this filter assembly, always make sure that the wider end of the hole is inside of the filter and the smaller or narrower end of the hole is on the carburetor side. When properly mounted, the stack functions as a venturi, smoothing the air flow into the carburetor and likewise smoothing the engine's running. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eWe recommend replaceing of the carburetor gasket when replacing the carburetor, as it is easily ripped and torn when removing the old carburetor.
