Description
Description
If the backrest on your Golden MaxiComfort lift chair no longer reclines, or you hear the motor run but the back won't move, this is the genuine GM756R replacement recline motor.
The GM756R is the back (recline) actuator on Golden's MaxiComfort chairs. It moves the backrest independently of the seat, which is what lets a MaxiComfort chair recline without lifting. It is not the lift motor that raises and lowers the chair. On the medium-wide PR505-M26 and PR535-M26, it works alongside two GMOKI-28W lift motors and a GMOKI-CB control box.
The GM756R is built by OKIN and may be labeled with OKIN part number 78877 (GammaDrive) or 1.43.000.223.30 (OmegaDrive). The motor comes with the push tube shaft and plastic clevis end installed.
Looking for the newer Richmat version? Golden has since moved many MaxiComfort chairs to the Richmat GM1450-RM (Richmat HJA65), which replaces the GM756R.
Make sure it's the motor. First confirm the chair is plugged into a working outlet and the light on the power supply is on. If the chair still lifts but the back won't recline, the recline motor is the likely cause. On the wide models, a recline motor that won't run at all can also point to the control box, so check that its connection is seated before ordering.
To replace it, unplug the chair from the wall and tip it forward onto the footrest or onto its side. Remove the hitch pins and clevis pins at the top and bottom of the old motor, unplug its cable (from the control box on the wide models), and install the new motor in the same position. Reconnect the cable, set the chair upright, and plug it back in.
